HUD Cuts Red Tape to Help Communities Respond to Hurricane

With a package of 27 regulatory and administrative waivers—one of the largest collections of such waivers ever administered at once—HUD aims to help communities accelerate their recovery from Hurricane Ida. New flexibilities allow HUD’s state and local partners to expedite the use of CDBG, HOME, HOPWA, and ESG program funds. Read article

 

HUD Announces Cross-Agency Efforts to Increase Affordable Housing Supply

This month’s actions mark a renewed focus on supporting construction and development of affordable housing units across the country. According to HUD Secretary Marcia L. Fudge, the actions “will expand access to critical capital for state Housing Finance Agencies, empower local communities to build more affordable housing using the historic investments contained in the American Rescue Plan, and advance equitable housing policies such as inclusionary zoning practices.” Read article

 

2021-2022 EDA-ARPA Funding Opportunities Now Available

The Economic Development Administration (EDA) has $3 billion in supplemental funding, allocated under the American Rescue Plan, to ensure support for previously underserved communities impacted by COVID-19. Read article

HUD Approves Disaster Mitigation Plan to Build Resilience to Future Wildfires in California

HUD has signed off on California’s second CDBG Program Action Plan, approving the state’s proposed uses of previously allocated disaster mitigation funds.
