HUD Proposes Removing Criminal Conviction Restrictions for Fair Housing Testers

A proposed rule issued in the Federal Register would eliminate restrictions barring Fair Housing Initiatives Program grantees and Fair Housing Assistance Program agencies from using testers with prior felony convictions or convictions of crimes involving fraud or perjury. Comments are open until January 2, 2024. Read more

 

HUD Releases $50 Million to Address Youth Homelessness & New Assistance to Improve Housing Placements for People Experiencing Homelessness and Resolve Encampments

HUD is making $50 million in Youth Homelessness System Improvement (YHSI) grants available to PHAs. The grants will focus on systemic change to improve or create response systems for youth at risk of or experiencing homelessness. Applications are due February 15, 2024. Read more

 

HUD Selects City of Madison CDA as Partner for Annual Innovation in Affordable Housing Student Design and Planning Competition

The City of Madison Community Development Authority in Madison, Wisconsin will be HUD’s partnering PHA for the 11th annual Innovation in Affordable Housing Student Design and Planning Competition, which invites multidisciplinary teams of graduate students to respond to an existing affordable housing design and planning issue.
