HUD published a Q&A on using CDBG-CV funds for emergency payments to a public utility

The document goes into detail about whether CDBG-CV can be used to assist a household by paying a public utility provider on the household’s behalf and gives specific requirements a grantee must consider in making an emergency payment to a public utility on behalf of an individual or family. Read more

 

HUD announced millions in rental and housing assistance for veterans in need

On Thursday, December 10, HUD announced it's awarding $46 million in rental assistance and housing vouchers for veterans experiencing homelessness through the HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) Program. Read more

 

Eastern Panhandle Empowerment Center (EPEC) received funding to begin rapid rehousing program for domestic violence survivors

The program will use funds from HUD that's specifically licensed for domestic violence services. EPEC's rapid rehousing program will help survivors find safe housing by paying their rent from three months up to a year, depending on the circumstances and situation. Read more

 

HUD awards nearly $5 million for revitalization plans in eleven neighborhoods

The funds will help create plans to redevelop HUD-assisted housing and revitalize neighborhoods that face challenges of distressed housing, inadequate schools, poor health, high crime, and historic disinvestment. Read more

 

Martin Way Housing & Shelter breaks ground in Olympia, WA

The Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI) partnered with Interfaith Works on a new construction affordable rental building. This complex will have 53 studios and 12 one-bedroom units for households at or below 30% and 50% of the area median income. Read more

Alaska Native Village of Kotzebue received $398K to help with rental assistance

The Native Village of Kotzebue will use the funds to help residents with housing costs, provide once-a-day meals, and provide warm-weather gear. They hope to keep residents experiencing homelessness safe with these measures. Read more
