Return of Public Housing Assessment Systems (PHAS)

In Notice PIH 2022-02, HUD’s Office of Public and Indian Housing advises public housing agencies that PHAS scoring will resume starting with the March 31, 2022, fiscal year end cohort. The notice also includes a temporary adjustment to the standard under the Management Assessment Subsystem indicator for the Tenant Accounts Receivable sub-indicator. Read article

 

HUD Releases 2021 Annual Homeless Assessment Report

Part 1 of HUD’s Annual Homeless Assessment Report contains data on people experiencing sheltered homelessness in 2021. A decline in numbers from 2020 suggests that COVID-19 relief efforts positively affected vulnerable communities, allowing them to keep their housing during the pandemic and beyond. Read article

 

HUD Will Enforce Carbon Monoxide Alarm/Detector Installation in HUD-Assisted Housing

HUD-assisted properties must install carbon monoxide alarms or detectors by December 27, 2022, and HUD will enforce this requirement, as clarified in a joint notice from HUD’s Office of Housing, Office of Lead Hazard Control, and Office of Public and Indian Housing. This applies to owners and operates of public housing, housing choice voucher, project-based voucher, and project-based rental assistance programs, and of sections 202 and 811 supportive housing for the elderly and people with disabilities.
