HUD will resume public multifamily inspections in June

Starting on June 1, 2021, HUD will substantially increase housing inspections after steps were taken to protect HUD-assisted households from exposure to COVID-19. HUD has collaborated with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to implement additional protocols and associated safety measures for inspections. Read more

 

HUD's Office of Multifamily Housing Programs posted updates to COVID Q&A guides

Both Questions and Answers for Office of Multifamily Housing Stakeholders: Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and Questions and Answers for Office of Multifamily Housing Stakeholders: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Eviction Moratorium Order documents were updated on April 26. HUD is making over $20 million available to fight housing discrimination

Fair housing organizations can apply to receive grants to help fight housing discrimination. These funds will support a variety of activities, including fair housing testing, education and outreach, and capacity building. Applicants can apply through www.grants.gov before June 14, 2021. HUD launched a new education campaign for Mental Health Awareness Month

The campaign will educate the public about the various forms of housing discrimination people with mental health, intellectual, or developmental disabilities often face. Read more

HUD announced PHAs that will participate in the new Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Mobility Demonstration

The goal of the demonstration is to support selected PHAs in addressing barriers to accessing housing choices by offering mobility-related services. PHAs will also work together in their regions to adopt administrative policies that further enable housing mobility, increase landlord participation, and reduce barriers for families to move across PHA jurisdictions through portability.
