HUD awards nearly $2 billion in CARES Act funding

On September 11, HUD Secretary Ben Carson announced the allocation of the remaining $1.988 billion in CARES Act funding for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. This round of funds will provide temporary assistance to help individuals and families pay up to 6 months of rent. Read more

 

HUD announces Montana's first HUD EnVision Center

Fort Peck Housing Authority in Poplar, Montana will house the latest EnVision Center to utilize resources that help individuals and families achieve self-sufficiency and economic mobility. The center hopes to increase employment, participation in health and safety activities, youth engagement in leadership programs and summer programs, and more. Read more

 

Tulsa Housing Authority establishes Emergency Rental Assistance Program

The program will use $20 million in federal CARES Act funding to pay the overdue rent of residents facing financial difficulties due to COVID. Since late August, more than 4,400 Tulsa households have applied to the program. Read more

 

California Governor Gavin Newsom announces first and second rounds of Homekey Awards

The Homekey program offers long-term housing for people experiencing homelessness through purchasing and rehabilitating structures such as hotels, motels, and vacant apartment buildings. The first round awarded $76 million to 7 local jurisdictions for 10 projects, while the second round awarded more than $236 million to 12 jurisdictions for 20 projects. Read more

25 affordable housing units for veterans are coming to the Boston area

The building is located near a job center that assists veterans with financial resources such as security deposits, rent, outstanding utility bills, and moving expenses. Each unit will receive conferencing technology that allows veterans access to telehealth services. Read more
