At the end of March, HUD published the proposed scoring notice for the new NSPIRE inspections model. The update and overhaul of HUD’s physical inspection standards incorporates feedback from residents, owners, and PHAs to prioritize health, safety, and functional defects, among other improvements. HUD’s new LGBTQIA+ Fair Housing toolkit seeks to educate housing providers, tenants, applicants, and others involved in housing on protections that advance housing equity. The toolkit includes an overview of relevant laws, regulations, and executive orders; a summary of the Equal Access Rule; culturally competent definitions and terminology; and information on preventing and reporting housing discrimination.
