Following up on the recent requirement that HUD-subsidized properties provide 30 days’ notice with information about emergency rental assistance before evicting tenants for nonpayment of rent, HUD has provided further information for multifamily and public housing programs, as well as sample language for informing tenants of their rental assistance options. An article in Cityscape examines short-term tenant outcomes in HUD’s RAD program, finding that overall, tenants reported either a positive or neutral experience and were generally satisfied with PHA communication and management. HUD awarded $15.7 million, provided through their Office of Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes, to 18 universities, public health organizations, and housing organizations. The grants are intended to help research institutions identify and improve methods for detecting and controlling lead and other hazards. Read article
A new resource from the Framework for an Equitable COVID-19 Homelessness Response spotlights nine programs that have adapted their crisis response systems using a racial justice and equity focus.
