PIH Notice 2021-23 implements funding adjustments to calendar year 2021 Housing Assistance Payment renewal funding allocations for the HCV and Mainstream Voucher programs, reflecting the $200 million provided by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 for adjustments for PHAs that experience a significant increase in voucher per-unit cost or face other funding issues that could result in the termination of rental assistance for families. The U.S. Department of the Treasury has reiterated its call for state and local governments to speed the distribution of emergency rental assistance by removing unnecessary and burdensome documentation requirements, and has published new examples of simplified eligibility forms and an eviction-diversion “maturity model.” Read article
