HUD withdraws fair housing guidance, updates The Edge, and publishes the latest Evidence Matters.
Through a notice in the Federal Register, HUD has withdrawn a number of fair housing guidance documents, including “Guidance on Application of the Fair Housing Act to the Advertising of Housing, Credit, and other Real Estate-Related Transactions through Digital Platforms”; “FHEO 2020-01: Assessing a Person’s Request to Have an Animal as a Reasonable Accommodation Under the Fair Housing Act”; and other guidance that HUD states “is non-binding and does not create substantive rights.” Any actions not consistent with the Fair Housing Act remain subject to enforcement by HUD.
