50 years later, we remember the life and legacy of President John F. Kennedy. Here President Kennedy meets with Dr. Robert Weaver in the Oval Office. In 1961, President Kennedy appointed Dr. Weaver as Administrator of the Housing and Home Finance Agency. After the Department of Housing and Urban Development Act of 1965 established HUD as a Cabinet-level agency, he was sworn in as HUD’s first Secretary.
